E-invoicing in the UAE, ready before your deadline.

The UAE e-invoicing system goes live on 1 January 2027 for businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more and on 1 July 2027 for others. ZS checks your scope, prepares your data and VAT treatment, supports onboarding with an accredited service provider and reconciles the first months after go-live.

Key facts

  • UAE e-invoicing applies to business to business (B2B) and business to government (B2G) transactions under Ministerial Decisions 243 and 244 of 2025.
  • Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more had to appoint an accredited service provider by 30 October 2026 and go live on 1 January 2027 (Ministerial Decision 66 of 2026).
  • Businesses with revenue below AED 50 million appoint an accredited service provider by 31 March 2027 and go live on 1 July 2027; in-scope government entities go live on 1 October 2027.
  • Ministerial Decision 197 of 2026 excludes transactions within a VAT tax group for 24 months from 1 January 2027 and removes the requirement to store e-invoice data in the UAE.
  • ZS is an FTA approved Tax Agency in Abu Dhabi and connects e-invoicing to your VAT returns, corporate tax and audit.

What UAE e-invoicing means for your business

Under the national e-invoicing system, invoices between businesses, and between businesses and government, are issued and exchanged electronically through an accredited service provider instead of as PDFs or paper. The tax data on each invoice reaches the authorities in a structured format. A pilot started on 1 July 2026, and mandatory go-live is set by revenue.

If you are in the first group and have not yet appointed a provider, start now: go-live on 1 January 2027 leaves little time for data clean-up and testing.

Where businesses get stuck

  • Master data: missing or wrong tax registration numbers, names and addresses for customers and suppliers, which an electronic system rejects.
  • VAT coding: exempt, zero rated and out of scope lines that were never coded consistently in the accounting system.
  • System fit: older accounting software, manual invoices raised outside the system, and several entities on one ledger.
  • Ownership: sales raises the invoice, finance fixes it later. E-invoicing needs the invoice right first time.

How ZS prepares you

1. Scope and timeline check

We confirm which transactions are in scope, which go-live wave applies to each entity, and whether the VAT group exclusion helps you.

2. Provider selection and onboarding

We help you compare accredited service providers against your accounting system, invoice volumes and entities, then support the onboarding so the connection is set up correctly.

3. Data and VAT mapping

We clean customer and supplier data, check tax registration numbers and map every invoice field and VAT treatment to the e-invoice format, fixing recurring VAT errors before they are exposed electronically.

4. Testing and training

We run test invoices, credit notes and edge cases with your provider and train the people who raise and approve invoices.

5. Go-live and reconciliation

For the first months after go-live we reconcile e-invoice data with your VAT returns and ledgers, so problems are found by us rather than by the Federal Tax Authority.

Why it matters beyond compliance

E-invoice data feeds your VAT returns, your corporate tax computation and your audited financial statements. When the three agree, FTA queries fall and the year end audit is faster. As an FTA approved Tax Agency, ZS can also deal with the authority on your behalf. For a step by step list you can work through internally, see our e-invoicing readiness checklist.
